July 2020: Skiold acquires Rotecna, the leading Spanish manufacturer of pig-farming equipmen.
Skiold is a Danish company dedicated to the design of solutions and equipment for the farming industry, mainly focused on the poultry business. With revenues in excess of €100 million, Skiold is majority owned by the Nordic Private Equity Solix.
Rotecna is the leading Spanish developer and manufacturer of equipment for the pig farming sector. Based in Lerida and with around €50 million in annual turnover, Rotecna exports c. 50% of its production. In 2016, Spanish financial investors Talde and Oquendo entered the company’s share capital in order to support the founder in an organic growth-based strategy.
This transaction allows Skiold to complement its product portfolio, benefit from notable synergies and reach sufficient critical mass in order to compete with large multinationals globally.
SOCIOS has acted as financial advisor to Skiold-Solix on identification of the opportunity, execution and all other aspects related to closing of the transaction in the context of a competitive process. This is the first significant cross-border transaction in the EU involving a Spanish company since commencement of Covid-19.
