July 2006: Abener Energía, S.A., a company belonging to Abeinsa, Abengoa’s industrial engineering and construction business group, has completed its acquisition of Energoprojekt Gliwice (EPG), the third largest company in the Polish power generation engineering sector.

Energoprojekt Gliwice, founded in 1949, is specialised in project development in the fields of cogeneration, gas turbine combined cycle, steam turbine installation works and industrial plants in general.

The acquisition of EPG, which will add more than 130 experienced professionals to the more than 13,300 people that Abengoa has around the world, is fully aligned with Abengoa’s strategy for global growth, and reinforces, at the same time, its commitment to expand its engineering business in Central and Eastern Europe, which has great growth prospects in the coming years in the area of ​​industrial plant construction, especially in the area of ​​biofuels.

SOCIOS in collaboration with its associated investment banking firm TRIGON, specialized in the emerging markets of Eastern and Central Europe, advised Abener in the identification and selection of possible candidates, in the strategy of approaching said candidates, their valuation, negotiation with representatives of the shareholders (current and former employees of the company itself), in the coordination of the different local advisers, in the structuring of the operation and in all those aspects of the transaction necessary for its final closing.
