April 2013: Club Internacional del Libro, the leading direct marketing company in Spain and Portugal, has acquired the subsidiaries of Reader’s Digest in France, Finland and Sweden.

As an essential condition of the transaction, the buyer obtains a long-term license agreement to exploit Reader’s Digest brand in France (including French speaking Belgium), Finland and Sweden, as well as in Lithuania, Latvia and Norway.

The transaction is in line with Club Internacional del Libro’s strategy to internationalize its business activity into other markets and it is a continuation of the acquisition carried out last year of the Spanish and Portuguese subsidiaries of Reader´s Digest Association Inc.

The transaction is completed in a competitive sales process in which SOCIOS advises Club Internacional del Libro on all aspects related to the execution and negotiation of the transaction.
